UMATILLA - Kerry Ashmead scored the opening goal of the match at the five-minute mark of the first half, but after that it was all Umatilla as the Vikings tallied four straight goals and went on to defeat the Prospectors 5-2 in Special District 4 soccer action on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The victory kept Umatilla undefeated in the league at 7-0 and 9-0 overall.

Grant Union fell to 3-3-1 in league matches and 3-6-1 overall, but held on to second place in the district.

Gilibaldo Corla was nearly unstoppable, scoring four goals for the Vikings at the 15th, 22nd, 48th and 69th minute of play.

Ashmead also scored the Prospectors' only other goal of the match at the 63rd minute.

On Thursday, Oct. 17, the Prospectors picked up a 6-1 victory over non-league opponent Fruitland, Idaho, to lift their overall season record to 4-6-1.
