MT. VERNON - Local citizens will have the opportunity to meet the candidates running for office in the November election at a Meet the Candidates Night at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Mt. Vernon Grange Hall.

At this informational session, the candidates will present their platforms and talk about issues facing the state, county and local communities. A question-and-answer session will follow. The meeting will be moderated by Sen. Ted Ferrioli, R-John Day.

Candidates expected to participate include:

Jim Gilbertson and John Mabrey, who are running for state representative in District 59.

Tom Butler and Roxanna Swann, state representative candidates for District 60.

Boyd Britton and Leonard Trafton, who are running for seats on the Grant County Court.

Mike Kilpatrick, who is running for Grant County District Attorney. Challenger Lee Carter will be represented.

Information will also be available from Sen. Gordon Smith and Secretary of State Bill Bradbury, who are candidates for the U.S. Senate, Rep. Greg Walden and Peter Buckley, who are candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, and Ted Kulongoski and Kevin Mannix, candidates for governor. Everyone is invited to attend the session which is sponsored by the Mt. Vernon Grange.
