JOHN DAY - Students from Humbolt Elementary and Seneca School will hold walk-a-thons to support juvenile diabetes research on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Humbolt's walk will be from 2:30-3 p.m. at Grant Union Junior-Senior High School. Call Seneca School, 541-542-2542, for details about the walk there.

A representative from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation led a kick-off assembly for the students Nov. 7, in which they received a packet of information and JDRF paper shoes to hang up at school, to show support for the cause.

The community is welcome to participate in the event. A table will be set up for those interested in walking to sign up as a school visitor, or for those who just want to make donations. Organizers encourage anyone interested to arrive early.

The fund-raising goal is $3,000. Donations can also be made through Humbolt Elementary or Seneca School students, or online at www.jdrf.org/kidswalk.

For more information, call coordinator Christal Culley, 541-792-0525.
