JOHN DAY - The Grant County Fair Board seeks applicants for the 2012 Fair and Rodeo Court, and an advisor/chaperone for the court.

Interested contestants for the court must be 16 years old by Oct. 1, 2011, and not over age 19 by Oct. 1, 2012.

Tryouts will be held the week prior to, and during, this year's fair, Aug. 24-28.

The application, rules and tryout schedule are available at the fair office. All completed forms must be turned in by 4 p.m., Friday, July 29.

An individual or couple is also needed to lead the fair and rodeo court. The advisor/chaperone assists the court with such duties as attire selection, fund-raising, budgeting, public appearances, horsemanship and travel arrangements.

Some travel is required during the summer months.

Those interested should inquire by Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011.
