Menu will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and drinks. There will also be live music and door prizes. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12, and free for children under 6. Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary of Prairie City.

‘Courageous' to show at Grantville Theater

John Day Church of the Nazarene presents free showings of the movie "Courageous." The 2011 movie, by the creators of "Fireproof," is the story of four policemen who wrestle with their hopes, fears, faith and fathering, as they strive to raise their children in a God-honoring way.

Childcare will be provided during the showtimes, at a per child charge, by the church's NYI Youth Group.

Daddy-daughter sweetheart dance

• 6-9 p.m., Canyon City Community Hall

Girls in grades K-7 and their dads or dad figures are welcome to an evening of DJ music, group dances, a keepsake photo, after-dinner snacks, cookies and prize drawings. The cost is $20 for those with a John Day or Canyon City residence, or $25 for those out-of-district. Registration is limited. ‘War on Weeds' invasive plant seminar
