Music and dessert

JOHN DAY - Grant Union High School band and choir will perform festive winter music at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in the old gym. Tickets on sale at Len's Drug and Chester's Thriftway. $5 for adults, $2.50 children 12 and under. Dessert buffet at intermission. 50/50 drawing and raffle. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Magic Music Disney Days in March.

Drama performances

JOHN DAY - The Grant Union Drama Club will present a short, one act play "Last Stop Till Christmas," by Pat Cook at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Senior Center and at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Valley View Assisted Living Center. Several musical numbers will be performed by the cast, as well. Play is directed by Julie Reynolds.

Christmas potluck dinner

MT. VERNON - The Mt. Vernon Grange will host its free annual Christmas potluck dinner with live music at 4 p.m. Dec. 16 at the hall. Turkey, ham, potatoes and gravy, rolls, coffee and punch will be supplied by the grange. Donations of nonperishable foods for the Community Service Baskets will be accepted.

Holiday trap shoot

SENECA - There will be a holiday meat trap shoot at 11 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Seneca shooting range. Practice starts at 10 a.m. Open to everyone. Shells available for purchase. Lunch served at noon. Info: 820-4106.

Annual Parish Christmas potluck

JOHN DAY - St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and its mission parishes of St. Anne and St. Katherine will have their annual Christmas Potluck on Sunday, Dec. 17, immediately following the Sunday Mass at 3 p.m. Parishoners, former parishoners and their families and guests are invited to attend, and are asked to bring a main dish to share in addition to a side dish or dessert. Activities and games for the whole family will follow. No 9 a.m. Sunday Mass will be held that day.

Candlelight service

PRAIRIE CITY - Prairie Baptist Church will hold a Candlelight Service at 8 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Prairie Baptist Church, 238 N. McHaley, Prairie City.

Lemcke memorial fund

JOHN DAY - Contributions to help the Lemcke family can be made to the Kittie Lemcke Memorial Fund at any of the Old West Federal Credit Union branches. Info: 575-0264.

Trees of Memory

JOHN DAY - Driskill Memorial Chapel will display its annual "Trees of Memory" at the funeral home beginning Dec. 1. Bring in an ornament to hang on the tree in memory of a loved one and Driskill's will inscribe it with a name and dates and display it every year during the Christmas season. They will also store it until the next year. Info: 575-0529.
