New Year's Day fun run/walk

Performing arts concert

ONTARIO - The Treasure Valley Community College and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will hold a special concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Four Rivers Cultural Center, 676 S.W. 5th Avenue, Ontario.

The concert will showcase the talents of the Performing Arts Department. The evening will feature vocal and instrumental classical, jazz, show tunes and more, spotlighting Albina Pace, TVCC nursing student, on piano.

All proceeds benefit the TVCC Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society scholarship fund.

OngoingFossil Beds

The John Day Fossil Beds National Monument often provides ranger conducted hikes, tours of sections of the monument and even stargazing at the monument's Thomas Condon Visitor Center, 32651 Highway 19 in Kimberly.

Long Creek center

LONG CREEK - The community center is available for $10 deposit and a refundable $10 cleaning fee for short gatherings and for $10 deposit and $25 usage fee for longer gatherings (five or more hours).

Grant County Historical Museum, Canyon Boulevard, Canyon City with be open April 29 through September 30. Info: 575-0509.

Prairie City Recycling

PRAIRIE CITY - The Prairie City Recycling Center is now taking clean and flattened tin. The center is open from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday, unless otherwise advertised. The center is run by volunteers.-To volunteer, call Ruth McPherren at 820-4326.
