DDA meeting

JOHN DAY - Corbett M. will be the guest speaker at a presentation for Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (DDA) at 6 p.m. July 19 at the Grant County Center for Human Development. A DDA meeting will be held following the presentation at the Nazarene Church.

Corbett M., whose full name is withheld in keeping with the tenets of such addiction treatment groups, founded the DDA program in 1996 to offer support to individuals who are in recovery from an addiction and have also been diagnosed with a mental health disorder such as anxiety or depression.

DDA meetings will be held at 7 p.m. every Thursday at the Nazarene Church. Info: 575-1466.

Hospice fund-raiser

JOHN DAY - The second annual Blue Mountain Hospice auction and benefit dinner will be held July 19 at the John Day Elks Lodge. Silent bidding held from 5 to 7 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and live auction at 6:30 p.m. Live music, games and door prizes. Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple. Fair royalty tryouts

OngoingFossil Beds

The John Day Fossil Beds National Monument often provides ranger conducted hikes, tours of sections of the monument and even stargazing at the monument's Thomas Condon Visitor Center, 32651 Highway 19 in Kimberly.

Gleason Pool

LONG CREEK - The community center is available for $10 deposit and a refundable $10 cleaning fee for short gatherings and for $10 deposit and $25 usage fee for longer gatherings (five or more hours).
