William "Bill" Howell, 59, of Monument passed away at his home with his family by his side Saturday, April 24.

No services are planned at this time.

A lifetime resident of Monument, Bill was born October 28, 1944 in Heppner to Clifford and Charlotte (Wilhelm) Howell. He was raised on the family ranch near Monument.

Mr. Howell graduated from high school in Monument where he met Kathy Gunis. The couple married in 1963 in Monument. After high school, he worked as a timber faller for an estimated 20 years, working for numerous lumber companies. He later purchased a portion of the family ranch and operated it for the remainder of his life.

He enjoyed breaking horses to ride on his ranch and elk and deer hunting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Howell; his mother, Charlotte; and two brothers Sam and Paddy, both of Monument.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1991 and an infant son, Edward in 1964.
