JOHN DAY - Dale Finley of Mt. Vernon was the lucky winner of the 2002 queen-sized heritage quilt awarded during the Grant County Fair by the Grant County Genealogical Society. Winners of the wall quilted wall hangings were Jackie Goslin of Prairie City and Herb Brusman of Mt. Vernon. Proceeds from the fund-raiser help the organization compile local history, which is published and made available to the public.

Susan Kyriss of Prairie City made the correct guess of 206 chocolate kisses to win the back-to-school gift basket offered at Eastern Oregon University's fair booth.

Grant-Baker Federal Credit Union had a drawing for a whole pig, cut and wrapped, and Anna Neault of Prairie City won, with proceeds benefiting Doernbecker's Children's Hospital. Winners in the guessing games at the fair booth included Russ Bentley, Sue Drake, Hunter Born and Amanda Branstetter.
