Winter recreationists poised to play

JOHN DAY - Once the snow falls, the Grant County Snowballers will rev their engines this month. Snowballer volunteers groom hundreds of miles of trails and are working to expand this network to include a system of cross-country ski trails.

For those who prefer downhill skiing, Anthony Lakes Ski Resort near North Powder, west of Baker City, welcomes the public (weather permitting). For more information, see www.anthonylakes.com. Following is a schedule of winter recreation opportunities in the region:
