This week we’re introducing “You Asked,” a new feature that will run occasionally in the Blue Mountain Eagle. Readers can send in those nagging questions about things they see around the county that beg for some answers.

A bit of advice: Keep your questions to specific topics – This isn’t the format for “What’s wrong with Congress?” – that’s way, way too broad.

This week, we’ll get started with:

Q : What’s that new road zig-zagging up the hill on on the northeast side of Prairie City?

A:That road zig-zagging up the hill on the northeast side of Prairie City leads to a new cell tower for American Tower, an independent owner and operator of wireless and broadcast communication sites. According to city recorder Diane Clingman, the City of Prairie City’s lease was originally with AT&T, before being assigned to American Tower. The city’s initial term is for five years at $900 per month. The tower is on city property, with the access road on private land by contract with American Tower.

Send your questions to Blue Mountain Eagle, 195 N. Canyon Blvd., John Day, Ore. 97845, or by email to editor@bmeagle.com.
