Cheryl Ann Breland, 60, of Mt. Vernon passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, at the Canyon City Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Sharon Miller of the Living Word Christian Center in Mt. Vernon.
Breland was born Jan. 31, 1957, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. She attended Loranger High School in Loranger, Louisiana. She then went on to attend Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, graduating in 1982. She also worked for the Forest Service in Sam Houston National Forest as an engineer for 18 years.
Breland enjoyed horse back riding, hiking, gardening and walking her dog “Prissy.” She also was active with the Church of The Nazarene in Conroe, Texas. One of her fondest accomplishments were the roads and bridges she engineered, so others could enjoy the national forests.
She is survived by her mother Clara Cambre of Mt. Vernon; brother Buford Breland of Mt. Vernon; and half-brother Billy Shannup of Fruitland, Idaho.
She is preceded in death by her son Christopher Omohundro.
