Melvin Louis Moore Jr., 66, died April 10, at his Seneca home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Riverview Cemetery in Portland. A Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Grubsteak Mining Company in John Day.
Mr. Moore was born Aug. 26, 1948, in Portland, to Melvin Moor Sr. and Katherine Roth. He attended Gilbert and Pack Rose high schools. He then served as an electrician’s apprentice before becoming a licensed electrician. He worked as an electrician for Western State Inc. and Willamette Iron and Steel.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 48 and the Chairman Marine Executive Board.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his son, Greg (Georgia) Graven of Carlton; brother, William Moore of Dayton; sisters Katherine Fors of Vancouver, Wash., and Barbara Lombard of Portland; and 17 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Katherine Moore, and sisters, Josephine “Walkanee” Graham and Jayne Graham Haider.
