Pennies on their own seldom buy much of anything, but put a bunch of them together and they really add up.

A recent Penny War held by Grant County Youth Coalition raised $985.90 for the Grant County Food Bank – in just one week.

The winning teams in the contest were: the Forest Service Supervisor’s office; Team 1 from the Department of Human Services; Grant County Health Department and Community Counseling Services; the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife screen shop; and grades 1 and 2 from Humbolt Elementary.

Organizers were pleased with the results and hope to make the Penny War an annual event.
