JOHN DAY – A new series of hunter education classes begins Monday, July 7, at Old West Federal Credit Union.

The classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for two weeks.

The first class, which includes sign-ups, will start at 6 p.m. and run for about 2-2 1/2 hours. Successive classes will be at 6:30 p.m., July 9, 10, 14, 16 and 17.

There will be a Field Day Live Shoot at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 19.

The cost is $10 per student, which may be waived in some cases.

No one under 18 may hunt wildlife – except on their own land – without successfully completing the course. All ages planning to hunt as nonresidents may be required to have a Hunter Education Card.

Those interested can pre-enroll at Nydam’s Ace Hardware, True Value Hardware, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife office, or any other ODF&W license sales outlet.

For more information, call Bryan Nelson at 541-575-1808, the ODF&W office at 541-575-1167, or Lynn Comini at 541-575-0952.
