Grant Union Prospector Jozie Rude competes in pole vault at last week's district meet in Union, placing second. She placed third at the state competition Friday.

The Grant Union girls track team extended its lead over the 2A competition with a third-place finish pole vault Friday at the Track and Field State Championships in Eugene.

Jozie Rude placed third with a height of 9-03.00, behind Imbler’s Aspen Birkmaier at 9-06.00 and Oakland’s Rachel Arts at 9-03.00.

With the six team points for third place, Grant Union remains atop the 2A field with 82 points, followed by East Linn Christian with 63 after 13 events have been scored.

Four events remain. Grant Union has no athletes in the remaining events.

East Linn Christian, however, will compete in three of the four. In the 800-meter run, they are seeded third. In the 200-meter dash, they are seeded fifth. In the 4x400 relay, they are seeded fifth.
