JOHN DAY – Six varsity teams and one junior varsity team will converge on Seventh Street Complex next week to “break the ice” for the baseball season.

The event is the Les Schwab Icebreaker Tournament, hosted by the Grant Union Prospectors.

Teams joining the games include Prairie City – which has a new team this year – as well as Scio, Union, Dufur, South Eugene and Estacada.

Here’s a look at the schedule:

10 a.m. – Prairie City vs. Scio

12:30 p.m. – Union vs. Dufur

3 p.m. – South Eugene vs. Estacada

12:30 p.m. – Union vs. Scio

3 p.m. – Grant Union vs. Estacada

12:30 p.m. – Dufur vs. South Eugene

3 p.m. – Prairie City vs. Union

Saturday, March 29

10:30 a.m. – Grant Union vs. South Eugene

1 p.m. – Grant Union vs. Dufur

10:30 a.m. – Estacada vs. Scio

1 p.m. – Grant Union JV vs. Prairie City

Admission to the games each day is $4 for adults and $3 for children.
